As well as offering counselling, I am also a qualified supervisor. All counsellors, whether at student level or with years of experience need supervision in order to practice ethically.
Supervision should ideally be done through the same medium as the counsellor is working. As I work both face to face and online, I am able to supervise in both those areas. However, due to current Covid-19 restrictions I am presently limiting my supervision work to online only.
My own practice is based on person centred counselling but over the years has integrated other modalities, such as cognitive behavioural therapy and transactional analysis.
I work with both children and adults and so am able to offer supervision to counsellors working in both those areas.
I believe, both as a counsellor and a supervisor, that the relationship is key to a successful outcome.
I tend to work with the Hawkins & Shohet model and also Inskipp & Proctor. My sessions will always begin with asking you if there is anything currently going on in your life which may affect your fitness to practice. After that, it’s over to you to bring the concerns/clients which are important to you.
